Fellow Rotarians
Welcome to the new year of Rotary and a new theme “The Magic of Rotary “. The simple truth hidden by this theme is that the magic produced by Rotary doesn’t just happen, it requires hard work from the over 1.4 million Rotarians worldwide. However, once they put their minds to it magic does happen. You only need to look at the End Polio campaign with I believe only 4 cases of wild polio last year. Many of us grew up at a time when polio was feared, and we all knew families affected by it, but no more.

I have indicated that my priorities for the year include maintaining membership and trying to ensure that members get the best experience possible out of their membership. Our first meeting is an open forum where directors will give a rundown on the year ahead and members will have an opportunity to have their say. To paraphrase JFK, it's not always about what Rotary can do for you but what you can do for Rotary, let us know your ideas for projects, fundraising or fellowship as the Board is always open to new ideas.

Looking forward to the first meeting although I do remember the words of K Friedman, a former governor of Texas, "If I ever get elected to something my first action will be to demand a recount”.
