Happy New Year to all Rotarians and Friends.
We are now back in the swing for our Rotary year ahead. We have had our first Farmers Market for the year and the second is coming up on Saturday the 31st of January.
During our holiday break we have been saddened by the terrible bush fires in various parts of country Victoria which have caused devastating losses of family homes, businesses and livestock. Rotarians who have been working closely with these badly affected communities say that at this stage financial donations are what is needed most. Consequently, at our next Farmers Market, we will be collecting donations from the public for bushfire relief.
Our first meeting for the year is on Tuesday the 27th of January. It will be a relaxing BBQ at Yarra Bank Reserve, 44 Creswick Street Hawthorn. It is BYO food, drink, meat for the BBQ if you wish and a folding chair. Starting time is 5.30pm onwards.
Speaking of BBQ’S please keep Tuesday the 10th of March free for our annual Rotary Club of Glenferrie’s BBQ on the Terrace at Kooyong. This is always a popular and enjoyable evening of fun and friendship.
A very important event that is coming up later in March, from the 27th to the 29th, is the Multi-District Impact Summit (formerly known as the District Conference) which will be held in Horsham. This year it will comprise 3 Districts, 9800 (our District,) 9780 and 9510. There will be Inspiring keynote speakers, breakout sessions, hands-on projects and great entertainment. Please let me know if you would like to join the Glenferrie Rotarians who are already booked to attend the event of if you need more information.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon for another successful year.
