Our last dinner meeting attracted a good -sized audience with partners and guests also attending.

Our club member, Ted Baillieu AO, a former Premier of Victoria, spoke about his great interest in the history of recent World wars and particularly the First World War. He demonstrated through the AIF PROJECT how much easier it is now to follow up individual veterans and learn their history, such as their age when they enlisted, to what part of the world they were posted and whether they returned from the war.  Many houses in which the veterans lived, are still standing.

Welcome to Glenferrie Rotary Laura Schembri

with President Helena and her mentor, Maria Pantling

I was delighted to induct a new member to our Rotary club, Laura Schembri. Laura was introduced to our club by Maria Pantling, who will be her mentor. Laura has decided to find out as much as she can about the different committees in the club before she chooses which one to join.

Wayne Worladge recently informed me that he is retiring as Secretary of the Boroondara Farmers Market Committee after June the 30th of this Presidential year. He said that he has divided his role into bite -sized pieces for David and the Committee to allocate to other Rotarians who are interested in taking on these parts of the Secretary’s role. Wayne has performed this role for many years and on behalf of the club, I would like to thank him for all the time and effort he has put into the role of Secretary of the BFM.

The last Board meeting for this year will be a combined meeting with this year’s Board and the incoming Board under the new President, Chris Raw. The meeting will be held on Thursday the 28th of May.

Our Changeover dinner at Kooyong will be on Tuesday  evening the 23rd of June.

Warm regards,

Helena
