I would like to thank the incoming President of our club, Chris Raw, for standing in for me at our last dinner meeting. Chris and I are in regular contact with each other as the end of the Rotary year is fast approaching and there is much to do. We are in the throes of planning the important Changeover dinner to be held on Tuesday the 23rd of June at Kooyong Lawn Tennis club.  Invitations will be sent out soon so please keep that date free for what is always a memorable and enjoyable evening.

On Thursday the 23rd of April, I attended the Rotary Network meeting at the Hawthorn Arts Centre. This meeting was instigated approximately 3 years ago by the Boroondara Council and has occurred once and sometimes twice a year since then. The purpose is to have Presidents and / or incoming Presidents of each of the 7 Rotary clubs in the cluster of clubs in Boroondara (ie. Rotary clubs of Kew, Hawthorn, Balwyn, North Balwyn, Camberwell, Canterbury and our club, Glenferrie.) We are invited to afternoon tea and encouraged to mingle with fellow Rotarians and members of the Council. Then follows a presentation by each of the Rotary Presidents about their clubs’ projects. It is a very interesting afternoon and a good opportunity to speak with members of Council. I was pleased to discuss our Farmers Market with Adam Miller who is in a temporary senior position with the Council. Our Farmers Market is part of Adam’s portfolio and he stated that he is a fan of the Market and regards it as an important part of Boroondara’s identity. He assured me that he is keen to support the Market as much as he can.

Next Tuesday evening, we look forward to an interesting presentation by Ted Bailleu and the induction of our new member, Laura Schembri.

Warm regards,

Helena
