New Newspaper Rises in the East

When the publication of local newspapers Progress Press and Whitehorse Leader ceased, a small group of community volunteers saw an opportunity for a new, not for profit, community focused newspaper for the communities in Boroondara, Whitehorse and adjacent areas. The first edition was published online in September and the second edition just recently in October. The newspaper has already attracted considerable interest and support, and the publishers are keen to make it widely available. 
The first edition illustrated the publisher's intent to publish news and stories that focus on the diversity of local people and their activities. Articles covered a wide range of topics including local indigenous heritage and more recent history of this region, experiences and suggestions on ways to manage the impact of Covid-19 lockdown, the many ways to be active and join with others in our community, news and information on what is happening in the local area.
 
A good local newspaper, even when there is no paper involved, is important to a healthy local community. You can register to receive direct notification of each new edition. It costs nothing to register and publishers promise that subscribers won’t be bombarded with any third-party contacts.
