PDG Julie Mason, right, spoke about the power of The Rotary Foundation, one of the most respected and awarded charities globally

Speaker: PDG Julie Mason  Topic: Learning About The Rotary Foundation

At our last meeting, there was a good attendance to hear PDG and District 9800 Foundation Chair, Julie Mason provide an up-date and (for the newer members an introduction) to our charity, The Rotary Foundation.  And following is her response to the visit to Glenferrie.

Some of the projects funded this year with District Foundation Grants from The Rotary Foundation

"I was delighted to receive an invitation from President Helena Wimpole to visit the Rotary Club of Glenferrie to talk about The Rotary Foundation. From the moment I walked in I noticed a positive vibe, and I understood that Glenferrie could be seen as a "Top Fan" of The Rotary Foundation. It was wonderful to meet new members and to have the opportunity to thank Don Heath, Thelma Hutchison, Richard Blakeman, Cheryl Pisterman, Ian Salek for their long-term support of The Rotary Foundation.

I did share that I was the first female to be offered the role of the District 9800 Foundation Chair and that I have such respect for those that have gone before me. Of interest was information about the End Polio Campaign and the Peace Pole Initiative. I spoke about the range of projects to be actioned as the applications are approved by the District Humanitarian Grants Committee. A special moment for me was when the new members and our Global Grant Scholar Masaya Endo came to tell me that they learnt so much from the presentation."

Julie also reminded our Rotarians that The Rotary Foundation remains Charity Navigator's 4-Star Top 100% for the 17th year in a row. Just another reason why it should be our charity of choice.
