Born in Egypt, Ray was the youngest child in the family. He was awarded his bachelor degree in 2001 and started his career with the numbers behind creativity—from  accountant to a finance manager in an advertising company. He met his wife, Merit, when in his middle 20s during a job interview. Ray explained that, unfortunately, Merit didn't get the job, but she had made quite an impression on Ray. He offered the beautiful lady a position as his wife. Luckily, she accepted!

In 2008, Ray moved to Australia with his wife and two lovely children. After three years in Adelaide and six years in Perth, Ray finally decided to settle down in Melbourne not only for its attractive culture but also for its unpredictable weather.

In 2017, he started his business- Bottom Line Business Advisory. He built up more than 150 clients and successfully sold them solutions for world tax compliance, and smart financial decision-making. The business is still growing and thriving.

As a passionate hiker, Ray and his family recently ventured upon the seven-day Cape to Cape track in Western Australia, covering 135 kilometres. His favourite television show is “Game of Thorns”. Coming from a country where, he said, democracy is a sham, Ray explained that he never voted when in Egypt, as he felt there was no point. He has great regard for the strength of Australian Democracy and has voted ever since his arrival Down Under. Based upon his reading, his favourite Aussie PM is Robert Menzies.

Ray joined the Rotary for fellowship, laughs and the stories – and to serve the community in a way that is meaningful. He is a CPA and has wasted no time in getting involved in Rotary business through the Farmers Market Committee. Ray will take over the administration of the Farmers Market accounts from PP Carol Benson on July 1st this year. They couldn't be in better hands!
