At the Rotary club meeting on May 13th, the club was treated to a talk given by Rotary scholarship recipient Jasmine Elmolla on her role in migration law.  Her present role is working in the Victoria Legal Aid in Melbourne, where she is responsible for protecting migrants’ rights and how they can address the law for visas and eligibility to stay in Australia.  She has a particular interest in Migration and ensuring that migrants have access to legal services and a fair and just migration system.
Guest speaker Jazmine Elmolla is studying for her Master of Science in International Human Rights Law at Oxford University, under a Rotary scholarship part funded by The Rotary Foundation
Jazmine has a background of working in London for two years, where she worked with the International Organisation for Migration in Iraq and the UK government.  Her original background was an Honours Degree Arts and Law at Monash University.  She is also studying part time for a Master of Science in International Human Rights Law at Oxford University via an online course.  This is supported by a multi-club grant scholarship part funded by the Rotary Foundation.  Her talk also verged on the compassionate side giving examples of the plight these people are in.
