Glenferrie Rotarians past and present, along with partners, friends, and supporters, gathered in style at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club on October 22nd to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Glenferrie’s Charter, originally granted on the same date in 1975.

A full house of 130 guests enjoyed an evening filled with memories, laughter, and good cheer,  honouring the club’s proud history while looking confidently to the future. For half a century, Rotary Glenferrie has delivered outstanding projects in the service of humanity, and the spirit in the room left no doubt that the next fifty years will be just as bright.

A nostalgic series of video reels took guests back to 1975, reminding many of the fashions, headlines, and pop culture moments that defined the year of the club’s founding. Then came a surprise highlight: comedian Marty Fields, known from Hey Hey It’s Saturday, took to the stage with his trademark wit, evoking shared laughter and fond memories of simpler times (when there were only four TV channels!).

From start to finish, the night was a joyful celebration of Rotary spirit — past, present, and future. As the final toasts were made, one thing was clear: Rotary Glenferrie’s golden legacy shines as brightly as ever.

Happy 50th Birthday, Rotary Club of Glenferrie!

Oh that was fun!

” What a top night we all enjoyed celebrating the Club’s 50th Anniversary. Rarely does one come away from an event feeling that it’s been faultless but last night was the exception. The balance of history, humour and member interviews plus the MC and KLTC’s catering were all superb and reflect just how much thought and hard yakka went into the planning”

“Thank you to all at Rotary Glenferrie and the Education CHANCES team who attended last night. It was as good a Rotary function as I've attended in 35 years of Rotary”.

“It was a great club night in which I was blessed to be a part. Congratulations, and best to you and all those on the organising committee”.

“Thank you for the invite to help celebrate the milestone of 50 years of Glenferrie Rotary. Glenferrie does its own events very well and last night was no exception.”

“I thought that it was a really excellent celebration of our 50th birthday! All of the committee worked hard to make it a success. Well done.”
