The Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network (RIMERN) is a multi club Rotary project operating in inner Melbourne, providing furniture, appliances and homewares to welfare agency clients who have experienced homelessness, domestic violence, incarceration, refugee displacement and other crises. The program is now firmly established as a significant component of our club's community service. It is supported by more than twenty Rotary clubs and our club provides volunteers for a half day every month.

On Monday 13th July David Fallick, Michael Hills, Lawrie Mann, Alex Marshall, Anita Morkans and Rod Patel gathered at the warehouse to assist with the assembly of all the goods required for a comfortable household. Items range from white goods, bedding, kitchenware to furniture including chairs and tables etc.
There are tasks to suit every physical capacity and may include unloading the truck, cleaning a fridge, moving furniture around the warehouse, sorting out bedding and assembling items for use in the kitchen.
At our last visit, donated flat-pack furniture was assembled, to name just one of several tasks. It is fair to say that there is a sense of achievement, an esprit de corp combined with occasional light hearted banter and laughter. Nonetheless RIMERN continues to provide household setups at a rate of more than one per day.
