Welcome to our first week of the new Rotary Year. We must be very happy with ourselves for such a great Changeover using the expertise within our club. In the first week of my term, already changes are happening. Due to circumstances, David Fallick has had to withdraw from Club Service Director. I am deeply grateful to John Hudson, our own “Mr Boroondara” for taking up the challenge. John has run the Market for years and has been involved in our club at many levels as well as “Nurse Hudson” assisting me in his week tour of duty with the Sumba Eye Program in 2010.
David is very keen to continue in service and will be involved in one of our areas of service.
While on this point, all members should be on a committee in the areas of service – Youth, Vocation, International, Community and Club Service. Be a responsible Rotarian and get on a committee. Don’t think, “What can I do for myself?” but think “What I can do for Glenferrie Rotary?” I guarantee your Rotary experience will be repaid 100 fold.
There are many challenges to face us; the least is to continue to be enthusiastic with zoom meetings for the next several months. Zoom doesn’t suit all personalities and may even alienate. I would encourage you to please come to the zoom meetings and engage in this virtual community. This first meeting for the year will be Tuesday July 14th. The new Board will meet the day prior. We will present the SAG findings at the 28th July meeting. In the future, we will present our version of the Club Constitution, which Rotary District has asked us to adopt. At present the Board is examining the proposed Rules and By-Laws. Again, the expertise within our ranks should assist us to get our constitution correct.
If anyone has an idea to make these meetings more appealing or suggest a speaker, we would love to hear from you. Be a participant!!
If I can ask those who have not signed the Rotary Volunteer Information and Declaration Form to please get on and read the Rotary Code of Conduct, complete the Declaration Form and email it to the Club Protection Officer Richard Blakeman. It is a requirement for our Rotary Insurance that there is a 100% participation. I realise it is a bit of work to get 3 references. I managed to find 3 people to back me, so surprises never cease to happen. So maybe surprise me and get to it. Saves another administration headache for me, since District is on our backs to get this completed. If you are in any doubt about whether you have already signed the forms, please contact Richard who has the records.
