District Plan for the Year Ahead

On the 10th July at the District Changeover, I provided a brief overview of the District Plan for 2021 /22 and beyond. Our VISION (or our compass) is the same whether for Rotary International, our District or Clubs:
I highlighted our PURPOSE as a District, which is at its core, is to help clubs and Rotarians increase their impact and reach.
 
Our District GOAL over the next 12 months and beyond is to help clubs and Rotarians increase their RELEVANCE in the communities that our District serves (Increasing our impact, visibility, encouraging re generation and innovation).
 
 
I see clubs well connected in their community doing wonderful and impactful projects yet not telling the world. How are you going to attract likeminded people to volunteer and, maybe in time, become members to help increase our community impact if the achievements and impact of our work are kept a secret?
 
Across the 65 clubs in District 9800 I would like to see clubs with financial resources seeking project ideas, to partner with clubs with lots of projects but limited financial resources, with the District team supporting and connecting them!  
 
The District has 4 PRIORITIES over the next 12 months, continuing to build on the good work of previous District Governors and their teams, and most recently Immediate Past District Governor Philip.
  1. Significant Projects - Identify, ensure sustainability, raise the impact and public image of District projects.   
  2. Community Connectedness - Improve the Rotary profile and facilitate stronger relationships within the community, business, and alumni groups.
  3. Pathway to Rotary - Develop a stronger pathway for younger people to connect and engage with Rotary.
  4. District Effectiveness - Increase District effectiveness and relevance for Clubs and Rotarians, to increase community impact.

I very much look forward to working on the above priorities and collaborating with all of you to achieve these goals.
