On Tuesday evening 21st June our Guest Speaker was Dianne Sides.

Dianne spoke about the Boroondara Family Network (BFN) which Rotary Glenferrie has ardently supported since its inception. The BFN was established as a project by Rotary Glenferrie, and set up with a grant from the Rotary Foundation in 1999. It was to be a project for all Rotary Clubs in the Boroondara area. Rotary Glenferrie and other Rotary Clubs in the Boroondara area support the BFN by making annual donations.

Meeting Chair PP Ian Salek thanked guest speaker Dianne Sides, presenting the club's Certificate of Appreciation. The club will make a donation of $100 to Australian Rotary Health as an expression of thanks to Dianne for her informative presentation.

Dianne was the first Coordinator responsible for setting up the organisation. After nine years as the Coordinator, she became a member of the Committee and subsequently the Chairperson. Dianne's background is in nursing. She is Registered nurse, Registered midwife, and holds a Certificate in Neonatal Intensive Care.

Dianne told us that the BFN is a Free Service to support Families with new babies and or children up to school age. This is achieved by a volunteer visiting the home once a week for up to 3 hours.

Most of their clients - as they call them - are referred from the Maternal and Child Health Nurse in Boroondara. The BFN also works with Camcare, PANDA, the Toy Library, to name a few. Anybody can refer to BFN with the permission of the client.
