One of the benefits of being president is that, through the monthly cluster meetings or other contact, one learns what other clubs are doing. Glenferrie is presently in a cluster with Kew and Hawthorn Rotary (After regionalisation next year this will change!). Kew meets at the Kew golf club and of course have many projects ongoing. One notable project was the recent first antique market in Hawthorn, which they hope to make a regular event. Hawthorn meets for lunch at Kooyong.
You might recall that they worked together with us in recent negotiations with Kooyong regarding our meeting costs. Some of the Hawthorn members will join us for dinner on the Friday night of the district conference. Community service has recently favorably considered joining Hawthorn in their project to provide mental health care packs through hospitals; more information to follow.
Members might be interested to know (or not?) that we have been asked by district to adopt a new constitution. Peter Moore, Secretary Geoff and I have reviewed and found only minor amendments from the current constitution. The new constitution will soon be presented to members for adoption at a special general meeting (which we will hold prior to a regular meeting).
Remember that if any members are interested in taking a leadership role in the new rotary `communities, give President Mark a call.
Invitation for changeover dinner on June 25 will soon be available.
See you all next Tuesday April 9th.
President Mark
