In her role as the Assistant Director, Dr. Miletic is devoted to advancing multidisciplinary research, teaching, and policy development, for effective engagement in conflict prevention and peacebuilding in the Indo Pacific region. As a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Social and Political Sciences, she brings a wealth of experience as both an academic and practitioner in the field.
Dr. Miletic's commitment to collaboration is evident in her efforts to translate research into policy and practice, particularly focusing on conflict prevention and peacebuilding in the Indo Pacific. Notably, she played a pivotal role as a Research Fellow on the Australian International Conflict Resolution Project from May 2015 to November 2020, conducting a multi-country review of state support to peace processes.
Her dedication extends to education, where Dr. Miletic has taught postgraduate peace and conflict studies programs at Australian and international universities. She has also contributed as faculty to the Applied Conflict Transformation Studies MA and PhD programs with the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies in Cambodia. This involvement showcases her commitment to international collaboration.
Dr. Miletic's expertise as an analyst and facilitator has been sought by various government and non-government organisations, including the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Victorian Government Department of Premier and Cabinet, Australian Multicultural Foundation, and international peacebuilding organisations like the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies and Conciliation Resources.
Rooted in political sciences and specialising in peace and conflict studies, Dr. Miletic's research also draws on her background in psychology. Her ongoing interest lies in trauma-informed collective approaches to peacebuilding. Before her current role, she held positions as a Research Fellow with the University of Melbourne's Global and Cultural Mental Health and as a research psychologist with the Victorian Transcultural Mental Health.
Notably, Dr. Miletic is the founder and Director of the Peace-Meal Peacebuilding Initiative, and she is currently on a mission working with Rotary and Gabe Hau, known as a leader in peace within the region and the District 9800 Peacebuilding Committee Chair.
During the Rotary Club event, Gabe Hau spoke about Peacebuilder Clubs and their commitment to engaging in dialogues and projects that promote positive peace locally and globally. Becoming a Peacebuilder Club is accessible - all that is needed is a Peacebuilding Committee with at least two members, education about peace for members, and at least one peace project a year. Joining the ranks of Peacebuilder Clubs aligns with Rotary's ongoing commitment to fostering peace and understanding in communities worldwide.
