On Sunday March 1st, over 28 Rotarians and friends helped clean up the Patterson Reserve and car park and the adjacent streets and park areas as part of the “Clean-up Australia Day” events. The group included students and staff from Xavier College.

Over 10 bags of rubbish were collected including the usual plastics, cans, paper and food wraps.  This year the collection included a couch, a nitrous oxide canister (nang), needles and a mobile phone which was handed to police.

The Clean Up Australia team prepare for battle - rubbish weaponary at the ready. Member for Hawthorn John Pesutto (front row, fifth from right) was once again a welcome and enthusiastic contributor. Thanks John!
Rotary's not just about work - it's also about fun! Enjoying the company of friends after the work is done an impressive bevy of committed Rotarians! Recognise anyone?

The President was out collecting rubbish for so long that we almost considered sending out a search party for her!

The light lunch and chat were enjoyed by all, so a special thanks to Libby Marshall and Caralyn Shekleton who organised it.

The cans we collected resulted in $4 for the BFN and people who passed by donated $150 to Clean Up Australia!

Ps. The photo with John Pesutto didn’t include people like Gary Stoneham who was already out collecting and the people who came late including the Pistermans and Andrea.
