President Mark Ellis AM welcomed his new board at Changeover on Tuesday July 13th in a celebration of the club's accomplishments and what it means to be a Rotarian. A number of members were recognised for their outstanding contribution to the club, to Rotary and to the community. Past President Ian Salek was awarded the club's first ever Royce Abbey Award for 'enthusiasm and commitment to the ideals of Rotary'. Paul Harris Fellow Recognitions were awarded to PP Thelma Hutchison, Dr Claus Bogh, Health Program Director for the Sumba Foundation, Indonesia, and to club Membership Development Director Elizabeth Dumonic. Special Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to Elizabeth Dumonic and International Service Director Mark Howlett.
Before an audience that included Mayor of Boroondara, Garry Thompson and the Member for Hawthorn, Mr John Kennedy, District Governor Dale Hoy and Immediate Past District Governor Philip Archer, an absorbing program skilfully MCd by Past President Charles Tran highlighted the extensive work of Rotary in the community, the diversity of Rotary membership and the strong bonds that unite us.
