Welcome Rotarians and friends to the Golden Jubilee year of the Rotary Club of Glenferrie.  I would like to thank Peter Moore and his Board again for the successful year they had last year and for the very good state in which they have left the club. In recent years, our club has grown considerably in its diversity. We now have close to equal numbers of men and women as well as a growing number of members from different cultural backgrounds. These factors have contributed to our club developing a broad and forward looking outlook.

The Rotary Club of Glenferrie is involved in numerous community services and some major international projects. We will continue these projects throughout the year and will add some more ie.  a water tower in Sierra Leone, as already planned, the Peace Pole installation at Loreto Mandeville Hall and we will welcome our Japanese Global Grant Scholar, Masaya Endo, who will be studying for his Masters of Applied Linguistics at the University of Melbourne, starting on the 10th of July. Masaya’s course will be for two years, from 2025 – 2027. Our club has agreed to host Masaya and provide him with support, social activities and generally make him feel at home. Joanne Shentu and I will be the main Rotarians to organize support for Masaya, but we encourage all members to help make him feel welcome.

On the 22nd of October this year the Rotary Club of Glenferrie will celebrate its 50th Anniversary. There will be much celebrating at this event, so please keep this date free.
