Our club meeting on May 24th will be something very special indeed. World famous Kingston Heath Golf Club is preparing a gourmet BBQ dinner, the likes of which are rarely experienced (according to PP Don Heath!) In addition, it will come at the end of the club's fabulous fundraiser for Australian Rotary Health, the Lift the Lid Charity Golf Day.
We are expecting over 180 people for the event, which may be the largest number of visitors ever at a Rotary Glenferrie meeting.
But spaces are strictly limited, and there are currently only 30 places left for the Gala BBQ Dinner. And they are expected to completely sell out.
So please book now to make sure that you don't miss this very special club meeting, hosted by MC Gregory Ross, the popular Australian television actor (Cop Shop, Prisoner), featuring an interview with our celebrity golfer, Australian cricket legend Merv Hughes, and guest speaker Professor Eóin Killackey, Melbourne University who will speak on the topic 'Youth Mental Health".
Australian cricket legend and raconteur Merv Hughes will join us for the day. Those playing golf could have the opportunity to play a few holes with Merv. Everyone attending the club meeting can have their photo taken with him and go into the lucky dip to join Merv's table at the Gala BBQ Dinner.
Merv will be guest of honour at the BBQ Dinner and will auction a signed cricket bat. Now that would be a nice little extra to take away from Golf Day!
Popular Australian television actor Gregory Ross (Cop Shop, Prisoner) will host the Gala BBQ Dinner in the evening, featuring a humorous interview with Merv Hughes, and the awarding of prizes for the Golf Day, which hopefully will include the keys to three Mercedes-Benz cars.
PDG Greg, a past Chairman of Australian Rotary Health, will introduce respected guest speaker Professor Eóin Killackey of Melbourne University, who will speak on the topic 'Youth Mental Health'. And when Greg introduces someone it is always something special! Be sure to come along and find out why!!
Professor Eóin Killackey is an NHMRC Fellow, Associate Director of Research and Head, Functional Recovery Research in Youth Mental Health at Orygen, The National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health and the Centre for Youth Mental Health at The University of Melbourne.
He has worked as a clinical psychologist in adolescent and adult public mental health settings and in private practice. His research is primarily in functional recovery for young people with mental illness.
Prof Killackey is a renowned speaker in the area of Youth Mental Health, and will speak to us on that topic at our May 24th meeting.
