As usual lots of things are happening around the Club. Remember if you want to be a part of a committee don’t wait to be asked, contact me, Helena or Mark Howlett. Nominations will be announced shortly so let us know.

Footy finals are nearing completion. Our meeting on 24th September is the last before the Grand Final, so grab your scarf and show your true colours.

Walk With us in October - "Paws for Polio"
Walk with Us in October to raise money for the End Polio Campaign. Register yourself, walk as an individual or form a Team with family, friends and club members to support Rotary’s priority project:  to eradicate polio from the world. You can walk at your own pace over the month with your kms and fundraising dollars recorded on the Walk with Us website - https://www.rotarywalkwithus.org/

The official launch of Walk with Us will take place on Sunday 6 October as part of the “Paws for Polio” event at Elsternwick Park.  Bring your four-legged friend, if you have one (or borrow one?) and walk together in a loop around the park.

Year 11-12 Scholarship Grants
Applications for District 9800 Year 11-12 Scholarship Grants open for qualified clubs on October 1st, 2024. The Grants are provided through The Rotary Foundation in support of scholarships offered by clubs to local schools for the 2025-2026 school years. The scholarships have been enormously successful in assisting talented and motivated students facing financial hardship to complete their secondary education. We have approached Swinburne Senior Secondary College to source a candidate for the grant.

A grant of $1,250 will match our club’s contribution of $1,250, providing a $2,500 scholarship over the two-year period.

Bread Run - We Need You!
A call out for extra helpers on the Bread Run, please.
It is a relatively small commitment of just one hour, 6pm – 7pm, on a Thursday to collect bread from the generous Bakers Delight, 515 Riversdale Rd Camberwell, and deliver it to the worthy Salvation Army, 7 Bowen St Camberwell, a short drive away.
Thank you SO much to Simon, who is doing the run every two weeks, and the other regular generous givers of their time – Paul, David, Alex, Michael and Kay. As there needs to be two people at each delivery, those wonderful members above are covering it over and over. Would members please check the Roster and give some relief to Simon, Paul, David, Alex, Michael and Kay?
…a great opportunity to make a BIG DIFFERENCE from a small amount of your time…

Sumba Eye Program Fundraising Dinner
Sumba Dinner - Calling for Auction Items
We are looking for your support for this very important Club Event. The working committee is putting together a program of entertainment, fun and fund raising which take the form of a Silent Auction where it is the highest "silent bid" which gets the item.  This can also be great fun as you try to outbid your fellow Rotarians and guests.  It is also intended to have a Live Auction for at least one high-end product (to be announced when confirmed).
