To register for  Club Changeover on July 13th 2021
Presidential Musings for the Week

Well one day to our Changeover.  There are many coming and you will not be disappointed by attending with the intention of celebrating our club’s achievements.  The District Changeover was a great success and I noted with pleasure a good turnout of Glenferrie Rotarians.

I am looking forward to formally finishing off the last Rotary year and get on with the new year.   Our new Board has already met last Tuesday and we are on the way to a good year.  I appreciate the generosity of our club and the sacrifice of the Board members and their committees to assist me in this up coming year.

The American writer Sam Keen is quoted as saying “We can't build a good society on the principles of self-interest and entitlement alone. Without generosity there can be no community. Without the kindness of strangers, a society is turned into an armed camp....The atmosphere of compassion that transforms a mass of alienated individuals into a caring community is created by countless acts of kindness and charitable foresight.”

Changeover Celebrates Achievement and What it Means to be a Rotarian
Changeover is one of the great nights in the Rotary year. It is the time when you dress up, bring your partner and enjoy the Changing of the Guard as it were.
The Rotary Year starts in July, following the financial calendar. Towards the end of June a special night is organised to mark the end of a Rotary year and the beginning of a new one. It is a time when appreciation is extended to committees for the work they have achieved and maybe to members who have earned the respect of the club by the awarding of a Paul Harris Fellow Recognition or a certificate of appreciation. The Paul Harris Fellow Recognition is one of the highest awards the club can bestow on a member.

At Changeover we induct a new president (or role over an existing one, as is the case this year. Ed.) and thank our outgoing president for the work they have done. It is also a time for the incoming president to introduce to the club his or her new team that will carry the club forward for the new year and to give a brief overview of what the club should look forward to in the new Rotary year.

I therefore encourage all members to attend and join with other Rotarians not only from our club but the visitors from our neighbouring clubs. It is a wonderful experience not to be missed.

Looking forward to seeing you at “Changeover.”

Help Needed to Make our Playground Opening a Resounding Success
It's getting close to the big day and volunteers are needed to help make the day a success.
Help is needed firstly with letterboxing the immediate neighbourhood on the weekend before the event. Five clubs are each taking responsibility for a specific sector in the area around the Reserve, encompassing parts of Hawthorn, Kew and Richmond.

Help is also needed with setting up the marquis, tables, chairs etc at Yarra Bank Reserve on the day; stewards are needed to greet and direct the public and ensure Covid requirements are met; and help is needed to dismantle the equipment on the Sunday afternoon and return it to the Farmers Market container.

If you can help, please add your name to the volunteer roster. To access the Volunteer Roster, click here:
