President's Message

More than 20 Glenferrie Rotary Club members are excited to be heading to Bendigo for the district conference this weekend. We start with a fun dinner on Friday night, conferring on the Saturday (partners will take the opportunity to visit Bendigo) and the gala dinner. I understand some members are also playing golf on the Friday afternoon and some will also attend the follow up breakfast Sunday morning. Chris has engaged us to take photos and I am sure there will be opportunity for those that could not attend, to hear of the weekend’s activities.

A Conference update and more photos will be
published in next week's bulletin

Richard Blakeman Receives a Citation for Meritorious Service
STOP PRESS
At the District 9800 Confetence last weekend Glenferrie Rotarian Richard Blakeman was recognised by The Rotary Foundation, with a Citation for Meritorious Service, which honours Rotarians and Rotaractors who have been actively involved in service related to The Rotary Foundation. Only one per district is presented each year and the selection process is very thorough; with the Rotary International General Secretary making the final sign-off: a well-deserved recognition of Richard for his continuing work on the Foundation Grants Committee. Congratulations Richard. 🎊

Club Meeting Report - 9th April 2024 - Nicole Gatto
At our last Tuesday meeting, our speaker was one of our Rotary family, Simon Messenger’s wife Nicole Gatto, whose other claim to fame is as an audiologist, known to a number of our members.  Simon and Nicole have a daughter Ruby and a Border Terrier, Pirate. Nicole studied at Melbourne University and had 25 plus years’ experience as an audiologist. She started her own audiology practice in Cotham Road, Kew around 5 years ago.

Nicole who claimed that she “would rather sing than speak in public” provided a very impressive video on the topic of hearing loss, communication with those who are deaf from the perspective of those who are already deaf, or aware of the degradation of their hearing.

Cheryl Pisterman

We are in need of a few volunteers for the Bread Run during the next month and there is only one club member on the roster this week for 18th April. The Board meets during the evening of 18th March and hence are unavailable to help on that day.

So, if any members are free for an hour during any Thursday evening please consider putting your name on the roster.  Note that there will be a Bread Run on Anzac Day but at an earlier time as Bakers Delight close at 5.00pm.

Please contact me if there are any questions. Many thanks.
