President's Message

Members had a very enjoyable evening on the Kooyong terrace last week with tasty tucker and great company.
Rotarians should be seeing emails about the progressing community groups and the now open opportunities for community group leaders. If anyone is interested and would like support, you are welcome to touch base with President Mark.

Bendigo district conference is not far away. If attending, make sure you are in the Whats app group by contacting Anita Morkans.
See you at next regular meeting on March 26th.

Cheers,
Mark

BBQ On the Kooyong Terrace
It was a beautiful night Tuesday last when we held our annual Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club BBQ on the terrace. We were lucky enough to miss the hot weather which threatened the BBQ a few days beforehand. The fare was again up to it's excellent standard. Tasty meat, various types of BBQed and cooked vegetables, and salads. Desert of cheesecake, berries & cream etc finished off the night.
A great night for fellowship. Thanks to the Kooyong chefs for the meal and to Lynette Spencer for organising the night.

Rotary Overseas Recycle Program (RORP)
A brief note to update Club Members with RORP which is gradually starting again this year. Indeed there are plans to “harvest” playground equipment on Thursday 4th April. There are now several dismantled playgrounds at the storage depot in Kilsyth awaiting transport to overseas destinations. The Glenferrie quartet in the photograph joined several Rotarians from other Clubs on an unseasonally hot March day. A container destined for PNG was loaded and further work was suspended when the temperature reached 30 degrees by 11.00am.

LightWalker Walking Sticks Selling Well
Thanks to the good work of all of our Rotary Glenferrie LightWalker Ambassadors, sales of walking sticks have passed the 50% mark, with more than half of the club's stocks sold since December. We are also getting quite a lot of repeat sales with some customers, having purchased one or two sticks for themselves, returning to buy more as gifts for friends. Many many customers have complimented the club on the quality of their new walking stick (and the fabulous price too).

Funds raised will go entirely to the club's project in Sierra Leone.

There was no missing the LightWalker stand at the Boroondara Farmers Market on Saturday. Amelia Anderson and Helen Worladge recorded a steady stream of sales during the morning, with great exposure for the club's work.
Certificate of Thanks from the Salvation Army
During December 2023 the Community Service group assembled 28 Christmas Hampers that were donated to the Salvation Army on behalf of the Club. It was pleasing to receive acknowledgement of our contribution. The contents of each hamper were very similar and we closely adhered to the suggestions made by Norman Gale, Coordinator of community Services, Salvation Army, Camberwell.
