President's Message
According to Rotary’s research, a positive club experience is the single greatest factor in satisfaction. Ensuring club members feel welcome, included and engaged through participating in Rotary service projects and activities is crucial. Last month, we were proud that 70% of our members had participated or volunteered at the Rotary International activity, the RICON23 Melbourne.

Club Hosting Evening a Night of Fun and Friendship
The club has received many messages of thanks and congratulations for the highly successful Club Hosting Evening May 29th, held as part of the Rotary International Convention Melbourne 2023. MC for the evening Hon Ted Baillieu AO, Former Premier of Victoria, set the tone for the evening with his humorous commentary and great grace. Asked about how he should be addressed, Ted revealed that at his other club, The Icebergers at The Royal Brighton Yacht Club, he is referred to simply as 'Former', a name that is surely to stick at Rotary now that it has been revealed.

Guest speaker Hon Josh Frydenberg, Former Treasurer of Australia and Former Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club Champion kept an attentive audience entertained with an equally humorous talk about his life in sport, politics and community. Spilling the beans on Ted, Josh revealed that he once played a doubles match with Ted. "As a tennis player", said Josh, "Ted makes an excellent Rotary speaker"!

From left, President Teresa Liu, Cr Lisa Hollingsworth, President Fabienne Nichola (RC Camberwell), Hon Josh Frydenberg, Cr Felicity Sinfield Mayor of Boroondara, Hon Ted Baillieu AO and President Andrew Crockett (RC Hawthorn). A night to remember!
More than one hundred and twenty local Rotarians and friends were joined by seventy conventioneers from overseas and interstate, the Mayor of Boroondara Cr Felicity Sinfield and Deputy Mayor Lisa Hollingsworth for a night to remember. Surely a highlight from a host of highlights from RICON 2023!

Glenferrie Rotarians Get into the Spirit at RICON 23
Twenty members of The Rotary Club of Glenferrie registered for various activities as part of the hugely successful Rotary International Convention 2023 and oh! What fun it was! From the opening day to the closing ceremony, there was light, colour and movement, dinners and breakfasts, new things to learn at numerous break-out sessions, friends to make, networks to nurture, fabulous speakers and wonderful entertainment.

Glenferrie Rotarians PP Thelma Hutchison, PP Charles Tran and Isaiah Lahai took part in an opening flag bearing ceremony that truly captured the internationality of Rotary. Those who were able to take part will never forget the experience of being part of RICON 23, not least of all those who generously volunteered for duties. Thank you everyone who made it all possible. A terrific Convention, thoroughly enjoyed!

Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network - RIMERN

As Rotarians, we know that when we engage people in meaningful, convenient and fun hands-on volunteering, we demonstrate that Rotarians are indeed “People of Action”. In mid-September, this message found an even wider audience when Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network (RIMERN) volunteer, Ros McMaster was announced as the Westfield Local Hero for the Airport West Shopping Centre, winning $20,000 for RIMERN towards the cost of its first van!
