Jun 13, 2025 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
The Community Service and Youth Groups have again agreed to help support this program which provides a sporting outlet for individuals with a range of disabilities. It is not wheelchair basketball and our role is merely to collect player and spectator payments which cover the cost of basketballs and administration. All the staff, including umpires are voluntary and the competition has been going for more than twenty years. It arose out of an initiative of the Power House organization.
Our commitment is to provide two volunteers at the Methodist Ladies' College(MLC) Basketball courts in Kew on a Friday night, once a month, from 6.30PM for 2 hours. So, if you have a free Friday night please consider helping out. Whilst it may seem a trivial activity we do perform an important role and it provides the opportunity to "chew the fat" with a fellow Rotarian in between acting as a cashier.
(Volunteers enter MLC via the pedestrian gate in Fitzwilliam Street near its intersection with Selbourne Road.)

Member Behind the Badge
Jul 22, 2025 6:30 PM
Amelia joined the Rotary Club of Glenferrie just eighteen months ago, and in that short time, she’s become a familiar and valued member of our club—known to us already as the impressive candidate for Kooyong in the recent Federal election. Despite a demanding schedule, Amelia has generously made time to contribute enthusiastically to club activities, especially the Farmers Market. But there's much more to Amelia than what we saw on the campaign trail—and that's exactly what our Member Behind the Badge evenings are all about: discovering the stories, passions, and experiences that shape our fellow Rotarians. Join us and hear firsthand as Amelia shares her journey at her Member Behind the Badge presentation. It's sure to be a fascinating evening! |

Oct 03, 2025 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Secrets of Hawthorn's Success
Oct 14, 2025 6:30 PM
Robert Pascoe, a noted historian and author of The Winter Game, is President of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria and Dean Laureate at Victoria University. In his talk Secrets of Hawthorn's Success, he examines how the Hawthorn Football Club rose to AFL prominence despite early disadvantages—small membership, limited talent pool, and lack of identity. He explores the club’s transformation from struggling beginnings in 1925 to dominance by the 1980s, including the influence of coach Kennedy’s legendary “Don’t Think, Do!” speech. |

Need for Feed
Nov 11, 2025 6:30 PM
Need for Feed Australia is a project of the Lions Clubs of Australia. Founder Graham Cockerell is also the Coordinator of this major project, which has delivered stock fodder valued at over $30 million so far to struggling farmers in drought and flood affected areas. A Past District Governor of Lions Clubs Australia, Graham lost his father to farm related suicide when he was just eleven years old. This tragedy inspired him at around the time of the Millenium Drought, when both fires and drought were ravaging Victoria, to do something positive to help farmers facing hurdles that might otherwise overwhelm them. |

Bookings via Humanitix: https://events.humanitix.com/33rd-paul-harris-breakfastGuest Speaker: Prof Ross Garnaut AC"Exploring economic opportunities in a post-carbon world".This is a rare opportunity to be stimulated by one of Australia’s leading thinkers on one of our most critical issues. Professor Garnaut currently heads the new Superpower Institute in Melbourne. Its mission is to position Australia as a global leader in the post-carbon economy. Much of our wealth has come from coal and gas exports, but this cannot continue. The Institute believes Australia’s natural resources can drive prosperity by developing and exporting green, energy-intensive commodities. Meeting this challenge is vital for jobs, wealth, and emissions reduction towards net zero. Professor Garnaut will outline both the opportunities and risks of action or inaction. For decades, he has brought clarity to the net-zero debate. His career includes:
