House of Friendship & Breakouts Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre (MCEC)

The Hon. Josh Frydenberg, former Treasurer of Australia, and Champion, Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club 1996, is the keynote speaker at this special club hosting event. The Rotary Club of Glenferrie joins with the Rotary clubs of Hawthorn and Camberwell to host 100 visiting Rotarians, in Melbourne for the Rotary International Convention 2023.

As Rotarians, we know that when we engage people in meaningful, convenient and fun hands-on volunteering, we demonstrate that Rotarians are indeed “People of Action”. In mid-September, this message found an even wider audience when Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network (RIMERN) volunteer, Ros McMaster was announced as the Westfield Local Hero for the Airport West Shopping Centre, winning $20,000 for RIMERN towards the cost of its first van!

Rotary Glenferrie welcomes Rotary Global Grants Scholar Hikaro Sato, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Mito, Japan, and hosted by the Rotary Club of Glenferrie. Hikaro is studying for a Masters Degree in Public Health at the Australian Catholic University. Her study in this field relates to one of the Rotary Foundation’s Areas of Focus: Disease Prevention and Treatment, which seeks to limit the spread of communicable diseases, and reduces the incidence and effect of diseases and strengthens the health care system.

Come along and meet Hikaru, hear about her studies in this important field, and learn a little about her life in Japan and the power of the Rotary Foundation's Global Scholarship Program.

MUNA simulates the workings of the UN Assembly by having teams of two senior students from each of a number of schools represent a particular UN country in debates on matters of world political and social concern. Three students from Loreto, Mandeville Hall attended. They will talk about their experience.

Join us to hear Jemimah Ashleigh speak about her involvement with the Puri Bhartu Orphanage in Northern Bali.  It is home to 40 children, aged 4 – 17. 

Jemimah has been assisting in the running of the orphanage since 2019, and she will tell us about the key challenges they face.
