![]() Beyond Water
May 23, 2023 6:30 PM
Peter and Sharon Crean started BeyondWater in 2007 while they were living in Sydney. They are passionate about alleviating poverty across East Africa through the provision of safe, clean drinking water and sanitation facilities. They have spent the last 11 years based in Nairobi, Kenya, raising a team of nationals to facilitate the growing work in schools, medical clinics and remote communities. Married for 34 years they have two grown daughters (Liz is with them in Kenya), a son-in-law and 4 grandchildren, who are based in Airlie Beach. This is their first trip in 4 years to Australia to exhibit at the Rotary Convention and share with fellow Rotarians about their work.

The Alma Doepel
Jul 11, 2023 6:30 PM
Come along and hear the romantic story of the Alma Doepel, built in 1903 and now being lovingly restored by volunteers as a Youth Training Vessel. Bill Reid will introduce us to the ship's early beginnings as a coastal cargo carrier, through war time troop and supply vessel to the ten-year volunteer driven restoration of a traditional tall ship meeting strict maritime standards to offer life changing Youth Sail Training programs.
Bill Reid has been a volunteer for nearly ten years at the Alma Doepel Restoration in Docklands and is currently the President of the Supporters Club. |
