Timor Adventures
May 18, 2021 6:30 PM
David and Shirley Carlos spent the 30 years working in community development, education and social research both in Australia and in the USA. In 1998 they formed a connection with the Timorese community living in Melbourne as refugees. In 2008 they began visiting the country and after they returned they wanted to do something useful and sustainable to support development, particularly in the districts, the areas outside of Dili. Their research showed that tourism has the capacity to bring new money to the country, touring in the districts would be an effective way to distribute that money across the country and develop new skills and livelihoods for the many young people in Timor-Leste. In 2020 Timor Adventures celebrated 10 years of operations.

How to Reduce Your Energy Bills and Stay Warm
Jul 27, 2021 6:45 PM
Tim Forcey trained as a chemical engineer and worked for decades in the oil and gas and petrochemical industries with Exxon Mobil, BHP, and others. In more recent times, Tim published renewable energy research with the University of Melbourne where he showed how Australians could save money by heating with their reverse cycle air cons instead of using gas. As you will hear, in order to spread the word about these useful home energy economics, Tim went on to found and co-administer the 32,000 member facebook group 'My Efficient Electric Home'. Tim also assists individual Victorians in their homes as a home comfort and energy advisor. Tim writes for 'The Conversation': Click here to read his articles |
