Rotary Glenferrie is proudly supporting Australian Rotary Health for the World Mental Health month of October. At Rotary Glenferrie, we are asking members, our families and friends to take selfies of themselves wearing a hat. These selfies are to be sent to Mark Ellis by Saturday 17th October where they will be added to a slideshow. This slideshow will be shown at the "Lift the Lid" night Tuesday 20th October. Also, we are asking for a donation of $5 from each person who is interested in contributing to this good cause. COVID-19’s impact on mental health is pervasive and the Lift the Lid foundation would love everyone to get together, take a fun selfie and donate for vital mental health research. Please send your sefie to mark.ellis744@bigpond.com and donate $5 by direct debit into the club's bank account. This is Rotary Club of Glenferrie. When Australian Rotarian Sir Clem Renouf launched the global project to end polio in 1979, more than 350,000 children died each year from this terrible disease. One can well imagine the desperately sad and devasting sense of loss felt by families, and the deep sadness when a life full of promise is taken prematurely. Many who did not die suffered dreadful paralysis. Today, polio is eradicated from all but two countries, an oustanding story that is yet unfinished.
